Cruising around town, slow and low, rev-matching sounds fill the cabin and now headed to the highway on-ramp to give it the beans. The shifts through one and four are buttery smooth to which fifth then abruptly ends your beautiful, bean-given pull, with relentless grinding noises as you try to slam it in and sixth is no help either.Ā
Now you're asking yourself, was that all me or just my shitbox?
Here's just the tip:
Check for shifter plate movement before anything else.
Tools Needed:
- Hands
- Interior Pry Tool
- Socket Wrench (possibly just a 10mm with extension)
Ā
While car is off...
1. Remove Interior Shifter Trim Piece(s) and Knob
2. Remove Shifter Rubber Boot Bracket
3. Check for Shifter Plate Movement
4. Loosen Shifter Plate Bolts
5. Adjust Shifter Plate
6. Tighten Shifter Plate Bolts and Retest All Gears
Rise and Repeat Until All Shifts are Buttery Smooth Again
